SAE India (Society for Automotive Engineers INDIA) National Student Convention 2019 will provide a platform to faculty,
researchers and students for presenting recent advances and future directions in latest technology trends,
which will include speeches by eminent speakers from academic and the automotive sector like IOCL, Maruti, Honda etc.
It will also include various student activities like project expo, paper presentation, technical quiz, workshops,
panel discussion etc.
The overall objectives of the convention are as follows:
• To provide an opportunity to interact and collaborate with experts, leaders and decision makers in the field of
Engineering.
• To provide a platform to faculty, researchers and students for presenting recent advances and future directions
in latest technology trends.
• To provide an opportunity to faculty for classroom innovation, in Automotive Engineering and teaching-learning
processes.
1.Project Exhibition
It is an endeavour to foster and enhance the culture of scientific inquiry and its relevance in real world applications and underline the strong
connection among student community. The Project Exhibition is conducted with the below mentioned themes.

General Rules and Guidelines for competition
➢ Each team can have minimum of 3 members.
➢ The judges’ decision will be final, no any argument and further discussion will be entertained.
➢ Members should have a valid student ID card of their college/university.
➢ A team member can participate in only one project presentation.
➢ The organizers reserve the rights to change any or all of the above rules as they deem fit. Any change in the rules, will be notified to the registered
participants.
Regulations for competition and display of Project
Student taking part in project exhibition event should follow certain rules regarding the event.
1) The project for competition must be displayed and presented with a poster in A1 size.
2) The poster should contain a simple description about their project. The candidates can take help of following points to describe their project in the
chart: Introduction, Block diagram, Working principle, Its advantage and disadvantages etc.
3) Teams will be given a space to set up their model/design at the venue for exhibition and for judging.

2.Technical Paper Presentation
Abstract Submission
Rules and Regulations:
• Maximum limit for abstract is one page having font and font size Times New Roman 12 respectively with 1.5 spacing.
• The abstract should state the objective, the scope of the investigation or the reason for addressing the topic (the ‘what’ and ‘why’).
This would include your thesis statement.
• The abstract should describe very briefly the methodology employed or the problem or topic (the ‘how’ or ‘where’).
• Summarize the results that were found and state the principle conclusion
• Please Mail your abstract to [email protected] Difficulties will be addressed through the same email-id.
The abstract should not exceed 200 words and should be fully self – contained; that is, it must make sense to someone not familiar with the topic.
It should be typed as a single paragraph and must contain complete sentences with correct grammar and spelling. The abstract should not give
information or conclusion that are not in the paper or presentation. Omit abbreviations and acronyms.
Deadline for Submission: 1st March’19
After you have submitted the abstract, a panel of judges will go through your material and if you are shortlisted to give the presentation,
you will be notified latest by 2nd March’19. Top 3 teams will be awarded prizes.
Judging Criteria:
• Relevance to theme of the Convention
• Paper will be evaluated and judged on the basis of equally weighted judging criteria for both written presentation and oral presentation.
• 12-15 Teams to be selected on the basis of abstracts.

Main Event
Shortlisted students would be given an opportunity to present their technical papers on the basis of the abstracts submitted.
Rules and Regulations:
• A team should consists a maximum of 3 members.
• Soft-copies of the submitted paper and PowerPoint presentations must be in the .docx format.
• Please bring your PowerPoint presentation on a CD and on a pen-drive.
• Please bring 2 hardcopies of the submitted paper on the day of the event.
• The teams will get 8 minutes for presentation followed by question and answer session.
• Persons from different institutions can be a part of the same team. However, one person may not be a part of multiple teams for the same event.
• It is desirable if the projects are actually done by students.
• Paper should be in a one column format & should not exceed 15 pages.
• Paper should be in Times New Roman font of size 12.
• For headings use bold and a font of size 16.
• Paper must contain index, list of figures, list of tables, abstract, introduction, point wise description of subject and conclusion and references.
• Paper must be preceded by a cover page specifying the title of the paper, names of authors and their college names as also their contact numbers
and email ids.
Participation Certificates would be given to all participants.
3.Panel Discussion
The panel discussion with the top personalities from the automotive world, experienced professionals and experts from various fields within the
industry will discuss about the most recent developments, exciting prospects and futuristic expectations from the automobile industry. This highly
informative discussion will be a highlight of the convention and will provide exposure to technical challenges and solutions to the students.
The discussions will also help ensure that the students can relate their theoretical knowledge to the practical onfield trials. Students will be
free to interact with the panel promoting a healthy discussion and a free knowledge sharing platform.

4. Invited Talks
Experts from MSIL, ICAT, NEI Jaipur, Trim India, IOCL etc. will be invited for a short discourse of their in-depth knowledge. Students will get
first-hand knowledge from these top-notch professionals of their fields. Bringing in speakers with proven expertise ensures that the
students receive maximum exposure to industry standards as well as acquaint them with the near future technologies.

5.CAD Competition
40 teams each consisting of 2 members would be given a chance to design their ideas on the given theme using SolidWorks software.
The theme will be declared on the spot.

6.Workshops
Workshops provide participants with a unique learning experience with topics on the cutting edge of technical innovation today.
